Ilulissat is a town on the west coast of Greenland about 350 km north of the Arctic Circle. With a population of just over 5,000 people, it is the third-largest town in Greenland. One of Ilulissat’s most iconic buildings is Zion’s Church. Built in 1779 it is one of the oldest churches in Greenland and at the time was the largest building in Greenland. The striking black wooden building is set right on the edge of Disko Bay with blue-white icebergs in plentiful supply.

This is one of the most magical corners of the planet 🥹
Over the last week, we have been sailing with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions from Reykjavik, Iceland 🇮🇸 to northeastern Greenland 🇬🇱 We’ve seen and done SO much in such a short period of time in one of the most remote and wild areas on Earth, from being dive-bombed by Arctic terns on an Icelandic farm to polar plunging amongst the Greenlandic pack ice and cuddling with sled dog puppies 🐕🦺
