A day in Nuuk: accidentally wandered into a press briefing, shook hands with the President of France and the Prime Minister of Denmark… then got philosophically sized up by an Inuit man at a bar who told me “We are the world” and asked if I was French.

Not even 24 hours on the ground and I was already in someone else’s foreign policy briefing and received a friendly Inuit welcome.

Greenland 19/06/2025 🇬🇱

Desembarquei no aeroporto de Narsarsuaq (grande planície em groenlandês) – Groenlandia, em 19/06/25. Fundada em 1941 como uma base militar americana – pois a meio caminho entre Labrador no Canadá e Reykjavik na Islândia, hoje
é uma vila com cerca de 150 residentes permanentes. Há um hotel e durante o verão um hostel. É um assentamento no município de Kujalleq, sul da Groenlândia .

Foi o tempo de pegar um barco/transfer de 45 minutos até a vila de Narsaq.

Narsaq (planície em groenlandês) é uma cidade do sudoeste, com 1 285 habitantes em 2024. Foi fundada em 1830.

As principais atividades econômicas são a indústria alimentar (pescados, gado ovino) e o turismo (trekking).
Nos 2 dias deu o tempo de andar bastante pela cidade, visitar o mercado de peixes, o centro de artesanato, o museu, fazer um Iceberg Safari e o principal: sair em busca de ruínas vikings – por sorte em frente à minha hospedagem!
Convidado para participar das comemorações no dia da Nacional da Groenlândia (21/06) onde veria a competição de caça às focas, não pude comparecer pois já estava com meu barco/transfer agendado para o próximo destino!

Capelin have been here, and you can still see them drying in the summer air—one of the true tastes of the season. Arctic char is also coming in, and soon it will be smoked the traditional way. The season for whale, caribou, musk ox, and other local catches is on the way.
