Greenland: 5 nights 🇬🇱
Finally got to see what Greenland is really like, and wow—the nature did not disappoint. Raw, untouched, and honestly breathtaking 🌿❄️.
Here’s what I checked off my itinerary:
🧊 Ice Sheet (Point 660)
🚶♂️ Ilulissat & Yellow Trail
🚤 Icefjord Sail & Eqi Glacier
🌋 Qeqertarsuaq & Kuannit Hike
🏙️ Nuuk
There were some surprises too—lots of smoking and litter, and hearing dogs howling on leashes near the Ilulissat Icefjord Center was rough (not for the sensitive). Boat tours can be hit or miss, and sadly, even paying 100€+ doesn’t always guarantee great service. If you’re going, I’d recommend picking a non-local company and doing your homework first.
Favorite day? Definitely Qeqertarsuaq, with those wild waves and views. Huge thanks to diskolineexplorer for getting me there safely 🌊.

After a few rainy days in Nuuk, our original trek to the glacier fjord was canceled due to wind and weather. But thanks to a last-minute cancellation, and an astute #nuukwatertaxi
guide, we were lucky to snag an overnight spot at #campkangiusaq, about three hours by boat from Nuuk.
As we pulled away from the harbor, the skies cleared and we were met with brilliant sunshine and icebergs so vividly blue and clear that they looked unreal. Words or pictures just can’t do this justice.
Because of earlier weather delays, we shared camp with only a Polish family and our Greenlandic and Danish guides. We spent the day hiking to a glacier lake, foraging for wild tea and fresh fjord ice, birdwatching from the boat, spotting a white-tailed eagle, fishing, and just chilling in our tent.
Erica sampled reindeer, musk ox, and our fresh catch; I had what was probably the best vegetable stew I’ve ever eaten. Throughout the day, we had thoughtful conversations about Inuit and Greenlandic culture, Danish and urban influence, hunting, gathering, and the very real challenges of a plant-based diet in a place where nearly everything, except for wild-sourced food, is imported.
This was one of the most remarkable experiences I’ve ever had, and I already can’t wait to come back and see more of this stunning country.
The post-glacier, eco-conscious note, because it matters:
The glaciers near Nuuk, especially Kangiata Nunaata Sermia, are retreating fast. In the past 300 years, it has receded over 22 km—a shift that is noticeably visible in real time to our young new friends/guides who navigate these waters every day. The acceleration of ice flow and iceberg calving is real, and the consequences will be felt not just by Greenlanders, but by all of us.
I know I contribute to this, as someone who travels often, but I still want to say this clearly: climate change is real. Warming is happening. And while we won’t fix it overnight, we can all try to live with a little more care, a little less waste, and more awarenes of the world beyond our own backyard.
