You`ve probably heard that we only see 10% of an iceberg above water 🌊🏔️

But did you know that this fraction varies? White icebergs contain more air, giving them their buoyant appearance, while blue icebergs, have less air trapped within. And then there are the "diamond/glass icebergs" with almost no air, appearing crystal-clear.

The enormous icebergs of the Ilulissat Icefjord are impressive no matter which way you experience them. Some of their peaks stand more than 100m above the level of the water (remember this is only 7-10% of the total size!), but it is only by looking up at these skyscrapers of ice from the perspective of a boat that you get a true sense of their massive scale.

Η ονομασία της οφείλεται στην απεικόνιση σκηνών από το κυνήγι του Καλυδώνιου κάπρου στην μπροστινή όψη, ενώ στην πίσω αναπαριστώνται δύο αντιμέτωποι γρύπες.

🕊️The Sarcophagus of Meleager belongs to a Hellenistic funerary monument, which was visible to tourists. It was discovered by a Bavarian archaeologist during excavations in 1831-32. It was transferred to the Delphi Archaeological Museum in 1901. Attic workshop of the 2nd century AD with relief mythological representations.
Its name is due to the depiction of scenes from the hunt for the Calydonian boar on the front side, while two griffins facing each other are represented on the back.

I miss the feeling of being amongst the ice with the local Greenlanders living their daily routines. Finding these beautiful glaciers and bergy bits floating into the sea. Using our zodiacs and the local fishing boats as a focal point. It’s an experience, and one I cannot wait to feel again.
