Qaqortoq, with a population of just over 3,000, is the largest town in south Greenland and the 4th largest in the country. Qaqortoq’s museum is spread over 4 buildings. The main building is the oldest one in the twin – a black-tarred building from 1804 that used to be the colonial administrator’s home. It was designed by a royal Danish architect and shipped over from Denmark. The yellow building close to it used to be the town’s blacksmith.

Around 45 mins of evolving colour at sunrise in Arctic Greenland. Well worth the brutal 4am alarm call, don’t you think? The purple / pink hues at sunrise in the Arctic are unique, and you can enjoy it at leisure as the colours evolve quite slowly, so there’s none of the (sometimes) crazy headless chicken running around fumbling with lenses / filters and other paraphernalia!

The purple / pink hues at sunrise in the Arctic are unique, and you can enjoy it at leisure as the colours evolve quite slowly, so there’s none of the (sometimes) crazy headless chicken running around fumbling with lenses / filters and other paraphernalia!
