It’s mid November, and we’re still waiting for snow here in Nuuk. We’ve been having plus celcius degrees and it’s been melting the snow. Not complaining, but ready for winter!

A day in the Bear Islands, East Greenland.
This little cluster of islands is located in Scoresby Sund, and is one of those places that feels completely untouched. They were historically used by local hunters, but today they’re mostly visited by small expedition ships like ours who come to hike and enjoy the views.
We spent the morning exploring by Zodiac, weaving between rocky shorelines and calm pockets of water while our guide shared stories about the area. After landing on one of the islands, we set out on a short hike and spotted some Musk Ox, with views that stretched all the way back toward the fjords. It felt wild, peaceful, and a little surreal to stand in a place so few people ever get to see.

As autumn unfolds, carpets of red and orange plants spread along the fjords, contrasting the icy blues of the water. It’s nature’s way of preparing for the long winter ahead.

La Zion Church, costruita nel 1779 in legno scuro, è una delle più grandi del Paese. Le sue linee semplici raccontano una storia di fede e di resilienza.
Nel Museo Knud Rasmussen si ripercorrono le esplorazioni e la vita dell’uomo che fece conoscere al mondo la cultura inuit.
Le case colorate, sparse sulle rocce, contrastano con l’orizzonte ghiacciato e ricordano che anche nei luoghi più remoti l’uomo trova il modo di dare colore alla vita.
Poco fuori città, i cani da slitta riposano accanto alle loro slitte. Sono compagni di viaggio e simbolo di un legame millenario tra l’uomo e il territorio.
L’Icefjord Centre, infine, racconta la relazione fragile e complessa tra la natura e il cambiamento climatico, con vista sul fiordo di ghiaccio, Patrimonio UNESCO.

To me, Greenland was the edge of the map — remote, wild, and hard to reach.
