VOILAA, mu lend tühistati ilma tõttu täna hommikul, udu oli liiga tihe.
Igatahes kummaline on see, et mu vaim oli siiski koju valmis tulema, nüüd kui peaksin juba Kophenhageni poole sõitma, on mu vaim täitsa teel koju ja siin, Gröönimaal olla, pole enam nii lahe. Tahaks koju nüüd ja kohe:).
Paar tundi peale lennu tühistamist sain teate, et mul on uus lennuplaan, mille järgi jõuan koju alles kolmapäeva varastel tundidel. PÄRISELT??? Mul on teisipäeval praktika kaitsmine ja neljapäeval kutseeksam. UHH

We explored one of the most remote towns on the planet 🤯
On our 12 day Greenland expedition cruise with lindbladexp, we stopped in Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the only towns along the 6,200 mile coastline of eastern Greenland and THE only town in the country’s vast northeastern corner 🇬🇱 Its location is incredibly isolated—it’s separated from the western part of the country by the Greenland ice sheet and is actually closer to Iceland than over 90% of the country’s population.
The town has retained an incredibly deep connection to Inuit cultures and traditions. For example, dog sledding is still a vital form of transportation here 🐕🦺 and the town relies heavily on fishing and subsistence hunting, with local hunters pursuing Arctic wildlife, like seals and muskoxen (which residents offered for us to try!), to help fill in the nine months of the year where the nearby fjord is frozen over and they’re unable to receive grocery shipments.
It was SUCH a cool experience to get a small glimpse into what it’s like living in this unique place in the High Arctic. And, honestly, it was worth visiting for the sled dog puppies alone 🥹

Eile, küsisin end alates 16-st vabaks, selleks hetkeks said ka kõik sõidud tehtud (neljap on lihtne päev tavaliselt). Minu boss oli imearmas, ta küsis, kas mulle sobib, kui me kõik koos minu viimase õhtusöögi teeksime hotelli restoranis? Justkui tänutäheks minu panuse eest. Õhtusöök kell 19.00 kokkku lepitud ja selle vahepealse 3h plaanisin veeta viimase matkaga kodu kõrval asuvas Signal Hill matkarajal.
Seega postitus imeliste vaadetega ja loodusgiidile kohaselt veidi ka taimedest.

The fascination with ice and bears made Greenland a dream destination for a long time.
We decided rather suddenly to travel there this summer, ‘before the Americans would claim it’.
East Greenland is remote and sparsely populated; it was difficult and pricey to find an insurance covering SAR here. Because of the complex logistics (in the summer you can only move around by boat or helicopter) and danger of polar bears (you need to carry a rifle), we chose to travel in a group.
Kulusuk, a village of 250 inhabitants, is relatively easy to reach from Iceland. There are daily flights from Reykjavik in a small, noisy aircraft; about half of the flights get cancelled because of the unpredictable and fast changing weather in the Arctic. After 1 hr and 30 min we landed at Kulusuk airport, a dirt strip surrounded by mountains.
We spent one night in Kulusuk, then the following day we took a speed boat to Karale area, the start of our 10 days trek. Our skipper very skilfully zig-zagged between chunks of ice, some the size of warehouses. The 150 km trek from Karale to Tasillaq Fjord passes some incredible scenery, incomparable to anything we’ve experienced before.

Last night we arrived to the Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord, which is one of Greenland’s largest fjord systems. It’s completely contained in the huge East Greenland National Park. We had the rare opportunity to sail into the Nordfjord that culminates in the board face of the great Walterhausen Glacier, the largest one flowing from the Greenland Ice Sheet. 🇬🇱🥰
